Stromboli Volcano - Egadi Islands - Stromboli Excursion

Stromboli Volcano is one of the most active in the world, as evidenced by the constant rumblings and plumes of smoke rising from its crater. Iddu, as the locals call him, is the keeper of the homonymous Stromboli Island and has always aroused curiosity and charm in tourists. The continuous explosions of the volcano are a unique experience, suggestive like no other, and enjoyable up close thanks to trekking excursions led by local experts.

An excursion on Stromboli allows you to reach an altitude of 400 metres, where a panoramic viewpoint welcomes you. From here you can observe real eruptions from the fiery crater, with fountains of lapilli and ashes rising in the blue of the sky ... an unparalleled natural spectacle! The path leading to the viewpoint is easily accessible by everyone, with views of unusual beauty on the wild nature of the island. On one side the Stromboli rocky wall stands out, on the other you gaze at the village below, the sea and Strombolicchio (a satellite little island of Stromboli). The climb is permanently exposed to the light and heat of the sun, which is why we recommend an excursion to Stromboli on cooler days or, in summer, away from the central hours. After the effort, however, the mind and gaze are filled with wonder at the sight of the Sciara del Fuoco.

The Sciara del Fuoco, which can be admired from a platform on the route or from a boat on the sea, is a steep slope designed by lava, ashes, lapilli and bombs ejected from the craters of the volcano and rolled downstream. The result of this activity is an arid sloping plateau, dark as pitch, which plunges into crystal clear waters for over 2 km. A more unique than rare vision, able of surprise even the inhabitants of the island. From the platform overlooking the Sciara it is possible to witness the memorable spectacle of the explosions of Stromboli, which mumbles every 20 minutes: if you stop for an hour in this panoramic point you can fill up with eruptions, with fiery red lapilli that stand out in the air. An unforgettable experience especially when darkness falls, due to the contrast of red against the dark background of the night sky.
