Egadi Islands - Favignana Island - Sicily holidays

If you love natural paradises and idyllic atmospheres, you can’t miss a tour of the Egadi Islands during your holiday in Sicily. It is a real marine Eden, capable of wonderful views to every corner. Reach the largest Protected Marine Area in Europe and venture among the dream landscapes of its islands: Favignana, Marettimo and Levanzo. Here, wherever you look, you bathe in turquoise waters, you rise on imposing cliffs, you abandon yourself to the green of the generous Mediterranean scrub, natural blanket of the three islands.

Favignana is the largest and most popular, ideal to visit on foot or by bicycle. The most beautiful things to see are certainly the intimate coves: Cala Rossa, Bue Marino, Cala Rotonda, Cala Pozzo and Cala Stornella. For a typically local experience, we recommend that you explore the Tonnara Florio, both for its fascinating history and for the interesting museum inside. Marettimo is the wildest of the three islands, populated by a flora of extraordinary variety and beauty. Walk the paths carved into the green, immerse yourself in the heart of the jagged coast, discovering caves full of stalactites and stalagmites, dive into a sea with incredible depths. It seems like a dream, but it is reality! The Norman Castello di Punta Troia is worth a visit, it was turned into a prison in the Bourbon period and currently hosts the museum of the monk seal.

Finally, Levanzo is the smallest and most intimate of the Egadi Islands. Here a strong attachment to primordial traditions remains and even the natural landscape seems to have crystallized in a distant and perfect era. The beaches are all within walking distance, but to fully appreciate the uniqueness of this marine ecosystem, a boat trip is highly recommended. Alongside the hidden bays, we suggest a guided tour of the Grotta del Genovese, one of the most renowned in the world for the discovery of important prehistoric paintings.
